Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones. This season always encourages me to pause, reflect, and appreciate the people and partnerships that make this work meaningful. As we prepare to step into a new year, I find myself thinking about how much the workplace has transformed and how important it is for leaders to stay grounded in both innovation and humanity.
The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence has reshaped the expectations placed on organizations. AI is now involved in everything from communication to compliance, and its influence will only increase. At the same time, employees are seeking workplaces that are compassionate, transparent, and built with intention. Balancing these two realities is essential for the future of work.
My goal has been to help leaders understand how HR and AI can work together rather than compete. When used responsibly, AI can simplify processes, reduce manual burdens, and give organizations more space for strategic thinking. Yet none of those benefits matter without a workplace that values people first. Technology should enhance human judgment, not replace it, and it should help teams operate more confidently while staying aligned with their values.
As you move into 2026, I encourage you to consider how your systems, policies, and work habits can evolve in ways that support both innovation and care. The most successful organizations will be the ones that remain open to possibility while staying committed to fairness, clarity, and connection.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to the continued growth, learning, and transformation that the new year will bring.
Dr. Thelá has launched her new Skool community, designed for leaders, HR professionals, and business owners navigating HR, equity, and the expanding world of AI.
Doug Davis returned with Your Black Business and introduced a new segment, Let’s Build Wealth, airing on The Black Perspective on the Black Information Network. Within this segment is a four-part series titled Insurance Makes You Rich featuring Dr. Thelá Thatch.
Part One, Unlearning the Fear of Insurance - How Wealth Is an Attitude, centers on reframing insurance as a tool for legacy, stability, and long-term wealth rather than something tied only to loss. The conversation explores how mindset shapes financial decisions, why planning for the unexpected matters, and how insurance can serve as a strategic asset for families and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Thelá also shares practical guidance on getting started, understanding different types of policies, and using accessible tools, including AI, to better understand coverage and make informed decisions. The message throughout is clear: wealth is not just about what you earn, but what you protect, grow, and pass on.
Dr. Thelá Thatch joined LaVada English and the National Association of Women in AI for a thoughtful conversation about how AI is showing up in our work, especially in HR. We talked about what it really means to use these tools responsibly and why critical thinking and human judgment still matter.
The discussion covered building AI with intention, setting guardrails, and making sure people remain at the center of decision-making. We also explored how tools like Sora can be powerful when used strategically, but only when they are guided by clear policies and ethical standards.
One theme stayed consistent throughout the conversation: artificial intelligence should support human intelligence, not replace it. That is why it is so important for women to be involved in shaping how AI is designed, governed, and used in the workplace.

🎙️ New Episode: The Power of Lived Experience in Leadership
Y’all know I love bringing real conversations to the table—and this week’s episode of The Ask MRS HR Podcast is one you don’t want to miss.
I had the honor of sitting down with Candace Newman, founder and CEO of Live Out Live, whose journey from foster care to executive leadership in the live entertainment industry is nothing short of inspiring. Candace has produced tours for artists like Rihanna, Guns N’ Roses, and Earth, Wind & Fire, and now leads the Cousins Festival as its Executive Producer.
But what really stood out to me in this conversation is how Candace uses her success to open doors for others through her nonprofit, the Live Out Live Foundation, which creates opportunities for underrepresented youth in entertainment.
We talked about everything—authenticity, self-advocacy, balancing hustle with purpose, and what it really means to lead with integrity. This episode is packed with lessons on resilience, purpose, and staying true to yourself no matter what room you walk into.

Starting 2026 with Structure, Strategy, and Humanity Happy New Year! Every January, HR leaders feel it. The pressure to reset. The urgency to catch up. The quiet question of whether we are truly prepared for what is coming next. As we step into this new year, I want to be clear about one thing. HR is not broken. But the way many organizations have been operating HR is no longer sustainable. Too many HR professionals are still expected to function without structure, without clarity, and...
Recognition, Reflection, and Real HR Wins This October October is often marked by Halloween celebrations in the workplace. Costumes, candy bowls, and themed office parties. While these traditions can bring levity and connection, they also shine a light on a larger truth: workplace culture must be built with intention, not assumption. As HR leaders and business owners, we can’t overlook the fact that not everyone celebrates Halloween. For some employees, cultural or religious beliefs may...
